Theatre Officer

Working hours: 24 Hours per week, 43 weeks per year.

Annual leave: 5.6 paid weeks per year

Contract type: Permanent – job share

Salary: £13,344 per annum

Start date: immediately

Key tasks:

Administrative

  • Maintain all equipment and other technical resources in the Theatre ensuring staff and students are able to utilise the equipment when required. Including:
    o Liaison with Estate Manager on maintenance requirements
    o Proactively fixing maintenance issues
    o Sourcing quotes from external contractors for maintenance and repairs required
  • Ensure all areas of the theatre are kept organised and tidy, and that storage is used effectively, ensuring equipment and materials are securely and safely stored when not in use
  • Have responsibility for keeping Theatre clean including:
    o Regular hoovering, cleaning bins and clearing areas
    o Cleaning before and after performances
    o Deep cleaning when needed
  • Work with Estates Manager to ensure the Theatre is Health and Safety compliant
    o Including but not exclusively managing the Risk Assessments for the Theatre
    o Ensure compliance of Fire, Asbestos and Legionella Safety
  • Ensure ongoing CPD – including but not exclusively – PAT testing, working at heights, ladder safety, H&S in the work place, H&S in a Theatre are completed and up to date
  • Liaise with Operations Manager to ensure the Theatre calendar is kept up to date
  • Work with Operations Manager to manage Theatre spend within allocated budget
  • Attend meetings as required including but not limited to all staff, faculty, site team
  • Produce and maintain supporting documents for the Theatre and performance spaces

Productions

  • To support the day-today running of the Theatre and performance spaces
  • To support all school events in the Theatre and performance spaces
  • Liaise with internal, and external production directors in a production management format to ensure productions are fully supported with regards to H&S, technical support, rehearsal supervision, stage creation support, and necessities for productions
  • Liaise with internal, and external teams when needed, production directors to ensure the most economical materials and equipment are purchased for the different productions in the Theatre
  • To provide high quality technical support and assistance as required to support all aspects of school productions, drama classes, exam performances and other school events in the Theatre
    o Supervision of the lighting and sound equipment
    o Storage and maintenance of the LX and sound equipment
    o Supervising rigging
  • Ensure highest levels of service to staff and students
  • Liaise with staff with all regards to the Theatre and performance spaces
  • Support Lettings Team with external bookings in the Theatre and production requirements
  • Ensure highest levels of service to all external venue users
  • Work with Lettings Team to assist with outside organisations that hire the Theatre ensuring that the Theatre and equipment are used appropriately
  • Assist with proactive promotion of the Theatre facilities for external lettings and revenue generation
  • Be the point of contact for external lets when utilising the Theatre and performance spaces
  • To ensure that current performance licences are adhered to and all stipulations are followed at all times

Additional duties

  • Ad hoc maintenance when needed
  • Provide first aid when needed
    o Ensure first aid training is up to date
  • Provide support staff cover when needed
  • Flexible working will be required
  • Any duties reasonably requested by the school
