Kindergarten Teacher

The details of this role are as follows:

Working hours: 40 hours a week. 8am – 5pm to include 1 hr weekly team meeting. Plus, Faculty meeting - 1 hour a half term

Contract type: Permanent

Salary: £28,152 - 36,051

Start date: September 2025 (with handover opportunity June 2025)

Probationary period: 1 year

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Kindergarten Teacher plays a pivotal role in nurturing and educating children aged 4-6 years old. We are seeking a passionate and experienced educator with a background in Waldorf Early Childhood education and preferably an EYTS qualification. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of effective teaching and a deep understanding of Waldorf pedagogical principles.

In this role, the Kindergarten Lead Teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues to create a learning environment that is inclusive of the diverse representation of children we have in our care. Responsibilities include designing and implementing daily programs and activities that reflect Waldorf educational principles, fostering a healthy rhythm in the classroom, and developing a curriculum that aligns with the natural rhythms of the year while meeting the needs of the children in the group.

The successful candidate will engage professionally with parents, participate in departmental and school-wide meetings, and work closely with an Assistant Early Childhood Teacher to support the needs of each child. Key Responsibilities

To hold responsibility for leading a Kindergarten group

To create a harmonious environment in the Kindergarten where the children feel safe and begin to find their independence

To work as part of the Early Childhood faculty and attend open mornings, workshops, CPD, faculty meetings and whole school meetings

To have a clear working understanding of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and the Independent School Standards

To have knowledge of and implement Welfare Requirements, including (but not limited to) Health and Safety regulations, Health and Hygiene and Keeping Children Safe in Education

Have a working knowledge of Child Protection matters and an understanding of the importance of its place at the forefront of Michael Hall School.

To actively contribute to the objectives and learning outcomes of Michael Hall’s Early Childhood

Maintain the outdoor ethos of our Kindergartens by ensuring children have time outside each day, rain or shine.

To record each child’s progress and use such data to support lesson plans

To carry out the administrative work essential to the day to day running of the Kindergarten, including attendance records, planning and report writing

To support children with any identified SEND needs and to be an active participant in early identification of needs alongside the SENCo

To keep up to date with online trainings, school policies and procedures.

General responsibilities of the Kindergarten teacher include:

To care for and maintain your kindergarten environment

To ensure that at all times the kindergarten and its outdoor space provides a positive and safe environment for all the children

To attend and fully participate in all necessary faculty, school meetings Waldorf UK conferences and Networking meetings

Be prepared to attend further training courses, conferences etc. relevant to working with young children.

Have a commitment to deepening an understanding of the principles underlying Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood Education.

To take on the general staff duties required of all group leaders
